Two brand new League of Legends champions have been revealed, with Riot Games announcing that Xayah and Rakan will be making their way to the MOBA.
The two new champions were revealed via the game’s social media pages, with Rakan filling the role of an agile support while Xayah is a more strategic ADC. Rakan “works best as a lovable distraction,” according to Riot, with him boasting a passive that allows him to occasionally generate a shield and pairing best with a marksman while operating in the bottom lane. On the other hand, Xayah attacks from the outskirts of battle — “if Xayah’s, you won’t notice her at all” according to Riot — and works best when hiding behind a support champion like Rakan.

Take a look at both champions in action in the video below:
Both champions are bird themed and they appear to share a romantic connection, with their introduction on the official League of Legends site suggesting that the pair met in a bar (that inevitably ends up in a brawl with an Ionian soldier). The intro refers to Rakan as “The Charmer” and Xayah as “The Rebel.” The two new champions will be released next month, marking LoL‘s first duo release since Pantheon and Gragas back in 2010.
