I don’t know what’s been going on recently, but boy, there seems to be a war against good old porn. Just yesterday we told you all that Rhode Island is thinking of charging it’s citizens $20 to check out what’s supposed to be free internet porn. Folks in Florida also think porn is a major health risk. People need to take a seat back and relax, because now this anti-porn campaign has reached major sports — specifically the Kansas City Royals.
The Royals general manager Dayton Moore has made it clear that he’s not a fan of porn at all. Here’s what the 51-year-old said after his pitcher Danny Duffy was busted driving under the influence.
“We’ve done a lot of leadership stuff with our players. Very transparent about things that happen in our game, not only with drugs and alcohol. We talk about pornography, and the effects of what that does to the minds of players and the distractions, and how that leads to abuse of—domestic abuse—to abuse of women. How it impacts relationships—we talk about a lot of things. And I don’t mind sharing with you.”
Obviously Moore got bashed for his comments about porn and abuse of women, but that didn’t stop Moore from still forcing his players to listen to an anti-porn seminar, becoming the first team in baseball to hold this type of seminar.
Oh boy, they certainly don’t look too happy. Here’s what Fight the New Drug, a group that’s dedicated to fighting pornography, and who teamed up with Moore for this seminar, said:
“We presented to the players about the research, and how porn has the potential to impact their overall well-being, productivity, performance, as well as their personal image, considering how much they’re in the spotlight and the public eye. This is something that can impact them in ways that can impact their careers, and they were super receptive to the info we shared.”
Fight the New Drug even said that “a few of Royals players let us know they were stoked to have us.”
