We know it’s only September, but it’s never too early for media conglomerates to start planning their holiday specials. Often, these one-off programs are schmaltzy, campy, and almost unwatchable. But there is one on deck that we are actually excited to check out – because it features one of our favorite characters: Steve Urkel from Family Matters.
Yes, the suspenders-wearing dork who loved to dance on the ‘90s sitcom is coming back to television for a special broadcast. It’s called “Did I Do That to the Holidays? A Steve Urkel Story” and is being described as a “special animated holiday musical event” that will air on Cartoon Network and be voiced by Jaleel White, the actor who brought Urkel to life (and made him a fan favorite).
Apparently, the awkward Urkel will come close to ruining the holidays after embarrassing a shopping mall Santa. Though he attempts to correct the gaffe on his own, his efforts only make the situation worse, necessitating a search for the real Santa (aka the only one who could possibly fix this mess).
The air date of this family-friendly comedic special is still TBD, but we’ll definitely put it on our holiday to-do list when it drops.
