Vikings’ wide receiver Jordan Addison has reportedly suffered an injury on Wednesday, August 14. This is according to Alec Lewis of The Athletic in a post on X (formerly Twitter), who was watching the practice session between the Minnesota Vikings and the Cleveland Browns before their pre-season game on Saturday, August 17. How did Jordan Addison get an injury?
Jordan Addison was injured when he leapt for a contested ball and went down along the sidelines holding his leg, per Lewis and Matthew Coller.
According to Coller, Addison was helped up by two trainers who assisted him as he was hobbling off the field. The wide receiver was then carted off back to the locker room. Lewis reports that several teammates give Addison a few high-fives, with wide receiver Justin Jefferson patting him on his helmet.
The latest update on his injury is that Addison has injured his ankle, according to Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell (as reported by Lewis). He will not be at practice on August 15, but O’Connell believes that “he’ll be okay,” though Addison still needs to undergo some tests.
This incident comes after the Vikings announced on its website that its rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy would be sidelined for the remainder of the season. McCarthy underwent surgery on Wednesday morning to repair a torn meniscus. O’Connell stated that while the procedure was successful, “it did reveal that a repair was necessary, which will end J.J.’s 2024 season.”
If that weren’t enough, Addison was charged with a DUI that took place in July after police officers found him asleep at the wheel, per ESPN. He has been assigned an arraignment and plea hearing on October 7 at the Los Angeles County Superior Court. It is possible that the NFL could give him a suspension, under the player conduct policy, once the legal proceedings are over and the NFL has made its own investigation into the incident.
