Former Britpop rivals Noel Gallagher and Damon Albarn may be collaborating on a new project together, according to Blur bassist Alex James.
Talking to the Sziget Festival website, James followed up on his admission that Albarn and Gallagher are “like best mates now” by revealing that the pair have joined forces in some way or another. James said: “Damon and Noel Gallagher are working together on a lot of stuff, so whatever was back then [in the 90s] is not relevant anymore.”
Could this mean a musical collaboration between the pair in the near future? They already joined each other onstage for a special performance of Blur’s ‘Tender’ earlier this year, but is James suggesting that they’re perhaps working on original material?
In the 90s if someone were to tell you that the Oasis songwriter and Blur frontman were to appear on a track together, you would first wait for the appearance of flying pigs until you believed them. But in 2013, this could now become a reality.
