The latest Pokemon is out, and as you might expect it has quickly found its way into the homes of millions.
Nintendo has announced that Pokemon X & Y has sold 4 million units worldwide within a 48 hour period, an amount that surpasses any previous release in the series. Granted, it’s the first to have a global release, but taking into account equal region releases it would still pull ahead, beating Pokemon Black & White 2 by more than 70%.
For reference, below are the total sales to-date of previous installments of Pokemon:
- Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl – 17.63 Million
- Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire – 16.22 Million
- Pokémon Black and Pokémon White – 15.42 Million
- Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver – 12.67 Million
- Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen – 12 Million
With the 3DS still leading sales charts, Pokemon is well on its way to becoming not only the best-selling in the series, but one of the most popular titles of all-time.
If you’re busy playing 3DS, be sure not to save in Lumiose City. There’s a game-ending bug that could affect you.
