October’s featured Band of The Month artist The Wild Feathers blends blues, folk, rock and country, for timeless melodies with a modern captivation through harmonies that set the soul ablaze. The four unique voices of Ricky Young, Joel King, Taylor Burns and Preston Wimberly call back to a more classic era in rock with their self-titled debut album, bringing a depth of songwriting and spirit that’s a scarcity in modern music.
In addition to exclusive CraveOnstage session performances of “The Ceiling,” “If You Don’t Love Me” and more (a new clip will arrive this Thursday), we sat down with Ricky and Joel in the back lot of Swing House studios to take the pulse of The Wild Feathers in the final stretch of 2013.
“Some of the things are coming true that you’ve been dreaming about since you were eight,” Ricky explains as he attempts to describe the state of mind the band is in these days. In addition to sharing a few lessons they’ve picked up along the way from the likes of Tom Petty and Willie Nelson, the guys discuss the band’s writing process, the necessity of the creative spark in attempting to write a song and more.
Check back Thursday for the next Wild Feathers performance on CraveOnstage. In the meantime, keep up with The Wild Feathers on Twitter, Facebook and their official site, where you can pick up this remarkable debut album.
Special thanks to Swing House!
