Arcade Fire’s Win Butler has said that he hopes the band will play UK festivals in 2014, and hinted that they might be headlining Glastonbury.
Speaking to BBC Radio 2 presenter Jo Whiley, Butler responded to a question regarding whether or not the Canadian sextet would be performing at any British festivals next year, saying: “Yeah, I hope so. It’s a special experience.” He then added: “Get your wellies ready!”
Glastonbury is notoriously muddy, and wellies are considered to be mandatory for festival-goers who want to successfully brave its treacherous terrain. Whiley herself then added further fuel to the rumour after the interview had ended, saying: “The wellies have been bought for a certain UK festival – we know the one that has quite a reputation for rain and welly-wearing, we shall leave it at that.”
Arcade Fire have made an appearance at Glastonbury before, playing a set on the Other Stage in 2007 that drew a huge crowd. With four albums now in the bag, including the recently released, critically-acclaimed Reflektor, it’s looking likely that they will be taking to the legendary Pyramid Stage next summer.
