Nintendo Introduces Miiverse & Nintendo ID to 3DS

It seems like forever ago Nintendo announced that it would (eventually) bring its Miiverse and Nintendo ID systems to the 3DS. Today, that once dream becomes a reality.

The v7.0.0-13U update is finally here, folks! This latest update for the Nintendo 3DS is by far the most impactful for the handheld’s experience. First, you can link (or create) a Nintendo ID to your 3DS. This unifies your accounts between your Wii U and 3DS, assuming you own both.

In addition, Miiverse is now supported on the 3DS. An icon resides in the top-right of the main menu which throws you into Nintendo’s first-party social networking software. You can share thoughts, draw images, and read other people’s comments. In essence, it’s a heavily moderated Twitter that’s all about Nintendo.

Here are the official patch notes if you like reading:

The 3DS has already been praised for its stellar software during 2013 in addition to its affordable price-point with the introduction of the 2DS. Really, now that the social experience is no longer archaic, the 3DS is an absolute monster. Expect it to dominate the sales charts even moreso going forward.
