South Park: The Stick of Truth Will Be Censored in the UK

South Park: The Stick of Truth will be censored in the UK, as Ubisoft has announced that scenes will be removed from the game in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The 18-rated RPG based on the cartoon TV series will censor 7 scenes in total, which include:

  • A mini-game in which the doctor is performing an abortion on the player.
  • A mini-game in which the player is performing an abortion on the character Randy.
  • Five anal probing scenes involving someone actively being probed. The scenes play out as normal before and after the active probing sequences.

Each of these scenes will be replaced by an image and description chosen by South Park’s creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker. Ubisoft spokesperson informed Eurogamer that this was “a market decision”.

The game has already inevitably been censored in Australia, which is notorious for its strict censorship laws on adult media, particularly video games. Stone and Parker stated that they were going to censor the scenes banned in Australia with an image of a crying koala, which leads us to believe that the comedy duo will likely replace the koala with the Queen for the UK edition of the game.

South Park: The Stick of Truth is coming to Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, starting on March 4th in North America.
