Lorde Relaunches Australian Tour

Lorde has announced a rescheduled tour of Australia after pulling out of a bunch of sold-out April dates due to “doctor’s advice”.

The news overshadowed tour weekend announcements from veteran international stars Bob Dylan and Queen, with eight capital city dates now set for July.

“The band and I absolutely love playing to Australian crowds, and it was not a decision we made lightly,” Lorde said after the April cancellation. “I know I need to focus on getting better in order to perform at my best. We’ll be with you as soon as we can, Aussies.”

The New Zealand-born Lorde will hit up stadium-sized venues in Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Newcastle and Brisbane and is still offering refunds to ticketholders who were forced to miss the April tour.

Lorde rose to fame last year on the back of the hit single ‘Royals’, but it was revealed this week that the teenage singer is no longer a fan of her most successful track.

“I listen to people covering the song and putting their own spin on it, and I listen to it in every single form except the original one I put out, and I realise that actually, it sounds horrible,” she told the UK’s The Daily Mail this week. “It sounds like a ringtone from a 2006 Nokia. None of the melodies are cool or good.”

“It’s disastrous, awful… But for the same reason, in the context of the way I released it, it just worked out.”

Rising Australian DJ/producer Flume made headlines recently with a remix of another Lorde single, ‘Tennis Court’, which debuted at Coachella.
