Robin Williams’ World of Warcraft Tribute Has Been Leaked

Last week news broke that Robin Williams had passed away. The world instantly knew that it would never be the same. The attention shined upon his legacy revealed details about him that much of the world never knew, including his love for video games.

Given that Williams had a particular admiration for the Warcraft universe, and spent many hours playing World of Warcraft, Blizzard took it upon themselves to pay tribute to them in the best way they can. While we learned last week that they definitely have something planned, what they have in-store has been revealed through a datamine by WoWhead, which has extracted a new character model from the game’s data files that will be added in an upcoming update. It’s for a character named Robin, with the tag <The Entertainer>. You can see the character model below:

This character references one of Robin Williams’ most outstanding roles where he played the energetic Genie in Aladdin back in 1992. The film was lavished with praise, with Williams receiving a multitude of awards including a Special Achievement Award from at the Golden Globes, an MTV Movie Award for Best Comedic Performance, and Saturn Awards’ coveted Best Supporting Actor.

There is sure to be more to this tribute than just the character model in-game, whether it be witty dialog he shares with adventurers, or some kind of quest they can go on. Or, if it’s like some of the other people who have been memorialized in World of Warcraft over the years, he will be placed in a hidden location of the game’s massive world for people to pay respects in peace.
