Sony has announced that Destiny had the biggest launch of any game in the PS4’s software line-up. Previously, Call of Duty: Ghosts and Watch Dogs were the biggest releases, each earning over a million sold within a week of launch. Given that today it was announced that Destiny has already sold between four to five million copies, it isn’t far-fetched to think it broke the 1.5 million mark on PS4 alone, where it was marketed the most, and had a console bundle.
Furthermore, the PS4 has earned itself an even larger install base. Many of the Destiny units sold were through the PS4 bundle. Given that the console was confirmed to have been in over 10 million homes in mid-August, it’s undoubtedly on track to meet the 15 million mark in it first year on the market, which would be a monumental feat. Remember, console sales boom during the Fall season, especially in November.
