We’ve been missing the unique vocal stylings of Ghostland Observatory’s Aaron Behrens since the band went on hiatus last year, so Crave is particularly proud to premiere “Through Time,” a new video from his latest project, Aaron Behrens and The Midnight Stroll.
Writing, recording and rehearsing with a team of seasoned Austin musicians, Behrens set about crafting material with an entirely different sound from Ghostland, one that blended soul-driven, heartfelt blues with his own uniquely captivating edge and energy. Joining Behrens in The Midnight Stroll is Jonas Wilson (previously from Lomita and White White Lights) on guitar and production, leading to the band’s self-titled EP debut through Skeleton Farm Records (grab it on iTunes).
The “Through Time” video, premiering today exclusively on Crave and featuring Behren’s haunting, delicate croon, was a bit of an accidental inspiration.”We actually were shooting for a different song and when ‘Through Time’ came on the stereo,” Aaron explains of the video’s creation. “We quickly realized that this was the vibe for that song and not the other one we thought we were there to film. I think this projection technique has a certain analog lo-fi aesthetic to it, which I really dig. I just kept with an easy concept and just used what was available to us at the time. We stayed away from story line and went just for the vibe of the moment. It was filmed out at my place Skeleton Farm studios. It was a fun experiment!”
Over the past few months, The Midnight Stroll have played a handful of shows, including at SXSW Interactive with Aloe Blacc and The Hold Steady, as well as festival sets at Austin City Limits, Neon Desert, Wakarusa and Fort Worth Music Festival. They’re currently wrapping an extensive tour in support of the EP release, with remaining dates below:
