In just a couple weeks one of the beloved The Legend of Zelda games will be introduced for its first time since its debut more than 14 years ago. That game is The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, a game that has received more remaster requests than just about any other game in history. Soon it will become reality.
Majora’s Mask has earned a strong reputation over the years. Some of that is due to its unconventional three-day cycle design that made it feel like a substantial departure from previous games in the series, while retaining some of the flavor that makes The Legend of Zelda games unique. That same experience will be re-born with improved visuals, gameplay, added content, fine tuning, and even stereoscopic 3D support. It goes without saying that this is a big February release.

The secret opening
There is an alternative opening that you can access from the main menu. To view it, press Start -> hold Up -> tap A -> tap B > tap B. The video will immediately play.

Bunny Hood: Cheat Mode Edition
The Bunny Hood, which has made an appearance in three The Legend of Zelda games, is more than just a piece of equipment for increasing running speed and jumping farther. If equipped during the Postman's mini-game, it'll allow you to stop the counter at precisely 10 seconds, earning you a heart in the process.

A new record!
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask has fewer dungeons than any other The Legend of Zelda game with a total of four. In contrast, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time had nine.
Each of the four dungeons has a main item related to the bow. The items are as follows:
- Woodfall Temple - The Bow
- Snowhead Temple - Fire Arrows
- Great Bay Temple - Ice Arrows
- Stone Tower Temple - Light Arrows

Miyamoto the Happy Mask Salesman
The Legend of Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed that the Happy Mask Salesman was inspired from his own looks and personality. Just look at the comparison on the left. It's difficult to tell them apart.

Coming to an iQue near you
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask wasn't originally going to be a Nintendo 64 exclusive. There were plans for a release on the Chinese iQue Player, which previously had a port of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
The project was canceled early on. It is rumored that the dark tones of Majora's Mask made the Chinese management at iQue uncomfortable with the product.

Marajoara influence
The mask based theme of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is said to be influence by the Marajoara.
The Marajoara was a society that lived on the Marajo Island from 800 AD to 1400 AD. They are known for their intricate masks and paintings, one of which can be seen to the left.

Mario easter egg
The Happy Mask Salesman has several masks attached on his backpack, one of which is a Mario mask. Unfortunately, you can't acquire it.

The Ocarina of Time bird
If you look at the moon, you'll notice a small bird that flies around a tree continuously. The model for this bird is the same one employed in the beta version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

The first three day cycle is 1.66 times faster than the other three cycles. It's no wonder time seems to be slowing down as you play longer.
