The much-anticipated new release in the Metal Gear Solid franchise, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, will be released worldwide on September 1st, 2015.
The news was broke by NeoGAF users who managed to obtain a video interview with series creator Hideo Kojima, which was originally intended to be published on IGN tomorrow.

In the video, Kojima brands the upcoming game the “most interesting” in the series’ illustrious history, discussing the MGS series influence upon the more cinematic leanings of the current video game industry, also detailing the “strategic freedom” the game will allow.
Kojima also stated that the game will feel as though you’re playing through an episodic TV drama, with the player piecing together the story as they progress through it. He also discusses a brand new online feature the game will include, with its central hub the “Mother Base” eventually opening itself up to include other players from around the world, with you being able to compete against other Mother Bases and even invite people into your own.
It was previously speculated that MGS V: The Phantom Pain may not launch in 2015 due to the immense scope of the game, so we’re incredibly pleased to report that we’ll all be able to get our hands on it at the end of this year.
