Ilan Rubin has proven far more than a drummer for a number of high-profile projects, most prominently the incredible Nine Inch Nails. His own operation, The New Regime, has just released their latest album Exhibit B, a sequel of sorts to 2013’s Exhibit A (iTunes) and a marked departure from his multi-instrumental work with NIN, Angels & Airwaves and Paramore.
Along the trajectory of his creative spark, we brought the man Trent Reznor calls “irritatingly talented” into the fold as our featured Artist of The Month for April, with an exclusive three-song performance and interview. We began with a stripped rendition of “We Rise, We Fall” and the soulful “Mannequin,” and today we follow up with a third performance,
Rubin also recently topped the charts as Tom DeLonge’s chief collaborator in Angels & Airwaves’ The Dream Walker. Released this past December, The Dream Walker hit No. 3 on Billboard’s Top Indie Album Chart and went to No. 1 on iTunes in 14 countries.
Watch below as Rubin performs a hybridized acoustic/electronic spin on new song “Where I’ve Headed All Along” – the first track off Exhibit B. Check out the stripped down performance of his project The New Regime for CraveOnstage at Swing House Studios, exclusively on Crave.
Pick up Exhibit B on iTunes, and keep up with Ilan at The New Regime’s official site, as well as on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
