Last season on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the Inhumans’ terrigen mists contaminated the food chain in the ocean, which means that more Inhumans will inevitably be triggered in the upcoming third season.
That will be of great interest to Constance Zimmer’s new character on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., according to a new announcement on Marvel.com. Zimmer will portray “the head of a mysterious new group that will cross paths with S.H.I.E.L.D. as both seek out new Inhumans following the events of last season.”
In the announcement, Marvel’s Jeph Loeb said “When casting this role, we needed someone that could go toe-to-toe with Coulson. Constance brings a level of wit and spark to the role we could have only dreamed of, and we’re beyond excited to add her to our already stellar cast going into the new season.”
No further specifics about Zimmer’s role were included in the announcement, but we think she’d make a great Madame Hydra or Monica Rappaccini!

Zimmer most recently appeared in the Entourage movie as Dana Gordon, reprising her role from the HBO series. She has also starred in UnREAL, House of Cards, Boston Legal, Good Morning, Miami, and she had a recurring role on HBO’s The Newsroom.
Another recent addition to the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. cast was Andrew Howard (Hell on Wheels), who will portray Banks, “an intimidating and mysterious government agent who will challenge Coulson and his team in their mission to find and protect powered people.”
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 3 will premiere on Tuesday, September 29.
