Russia president Vladimir Putin isn’t exactly known for being a reasonable man, so this footage of Russian Grand Prix winner Lewis Hamilton spraying Putin with champagne following his victory in Sochi on Sunday has left fans of the Formula 1 racer a little concerned.
After being congratulated on his victory by the president, Hamilton is shown leaping in front of the winners’ podium in order to spray those watching the ceremony with alcohol. While doing so, he also coats Putin in the liquid, with it appearing as though he had done so unintentionally.

Nonetheless, Putin’s security team are on hand to quickly protect their leader from the thoroughly harmless liquid, escorting him away from the ensuing chaos and ensuring that he escapes with only a mildly damp suit jacket.

This isn’t the first time Hamilton has caused controversy with his champagne-spraying antics, as back in April he came under fire for making a thing out of spraying unwitting hostesses in the face during his victory celebrations. However, it’s unlikely that those hostesses would be able to order a hit on Hamilton, so the F1 star is likely a lot more concerned about his soaking of Putin.
