STARZ has a tradition of renewing series before the first episode has even officially debuted. The upcoming Ash vs. Evil Dead series will be no exception!
Today, STARZ officially announced a season 2 pickup for Ash vs. Evil Dead just a few days before the series premiere on Saturday, October 31. Bruce Campbell is reprising his role as Ash Williams from the Evil Dead and Army of Darkness films for his first live-action adventure in 23 years.
“One season isn’t enough to satisfy the fans’ two decade-long appetite for more Ash,” said STARZ’s Carmi Zlotnik in the announcement. “The early fan and press support, along with the international broadcaster demand for more story have made it clear that the adventures of Ash Williams can’t end with season one.”
Director Sam Raimi and executive producer Rob Tapert are reuniting with Campbell on the project alongside Lucy Lawless, the former star of Xena: Warrior Princess. The season 2 announcement also confirmed that Lawless will return next year as Ruby, an enigmatic woman with a connection to the original Evil Dead movies who blames Ash for the return of the Deadites. And knowing Ash, she probably isn’t wrong!
