Jurgen Klopp: “I Can’t Forget This F***ing Loss to Crystal Palace”

Jurgen Klopp has swiftly become an adored figure in English football even outside of his Liverpool, and a comment he made in his latest press conference will see Premier League fans’ appreciation of him continue to grow.

Speaking before Liverpool’s Capital One Cup quarter-final match against Southampton, Klopp admitted that he was still having trouble forgetting his club’s defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace, saying in typical Klopp fashion:  “Sometimes I would really like to change my personality but I can’t forget this f***ing loss against Crystal Palace. If we had won this, I would say it was okay.”

Klopp’s admission was met with a chorus of surprised laughter from the assembled press. Watch the moment in the video below:

After only having spent eight weeks with Liverpool, the squad are adapting well to their new manager’s style, though Klopp conceded that he did not want to overburden them with too many alterations to the club’s philosophy. “I think we’ve done not too bad until now,” the manager said. “We give as much information as we could, as we should. With information, if I would say every day all the things I know, it is for sure too much.

“It’s timing, the right information is very important, of course. We don’t want that they have to take their papers on the pitch. It’s football. We have to play football. This word ‘playing’ is everything that you need.”

He continued: “For this moment it’s okay – maybe we could have done better but we never will know this. We go on, we are not even at half of the way of the season, of our development.

“We all think we have a long time together and we have always to do the next step.”

Liverpool are set to play Southampton today at the St. Mary’s Stadium.
