The Worst Sports Moments of 2015

We’re not talking about injuries, affairs or arrests. This list is in retrospect of the sports moments over the past year that didn’t necessarily make us angry, but cringe. Ya know, the kind of moments that make us feel pure pity and empathy for the poor unfortunate soul who had to endure one of their worst moments in front of a camera.

While it’s amazing our girls took the world by storm in its most popular sport yet again, call me crazy, but it’s incredibly sad the trophy was so small. It’s not new, but read my argument here, and then rally for the women to get a trophy representative of what real FIFA corruption can buy.

So what did Patriots quarterback Tom Brady do with his balls leading up to this year’s Super Bowl and why did we care? Cheating is cheating, even if it does involve losing a couple ounces in your balls, but months of litigation and millions upon millions spent in trying to determine if Brady’s balls were legal or not was a crime against humanity. And by humanity I mean every football fan who would rather see those millions of dollars put towards something that actually matters: charity, taking down guys like Greg Hardy … a bigger cruise ship for Gronk’s party.

Kobe Bryant’s jump shot

… Which actually includes his entire play as a whole. The 3rd ranked all-time NBA scorer should have retired two years ago.

Currently there seems to be an agenda to take down all the once-viral videos of Kobe air-balling shot after shot. But in case you haven’t watched Kobe and his 20 percent shooting so far this season, here’s a glimpse that’s somehow been salvaged.

Usain Bolt gets run over by Segway

Remember those Southwest ‘wanna get away?’ commercials? I’m sure this guy wanted to crawl away and hide after nearly ruining the career of the fastest man on the planet.

Johnny Manziel ‘bros’ his way out of starting job

Who knew that even after supposed rehab, the partying could reach new heights!? I wrote an article about the ways Manziel has “fumbled” in the past, but losing your starting gig because of going down to Texas and party during your off-week — and then LYING about it — takes the cake. When you’re Gronk, you can party with pornstars all you want. But when you’re the quarterback — the CEO of your team and a first round pick — you have to act like an adult. The Heisman trophy winner won’t only not be in a Browns uniform next season, he’ll be lucky to be in the NFL.

Bills fans

Where do we begin?

Whether it be slamming friends into tables during a tailgate, snorting cocaine in the stands, finding alternatives to hand warmers, or humping between cars (NSFW), Bills fans have been beyond debaucherous and at the center of the worst kind of attention.

Here’s a nice mid-season wrap-up (which doesn’t even include aforementioned moments from Nov. and Dec.) from TYT.

Hulk Hogan turns out to be a racist

It’s unfortunate when a childhood hero continues to wear a fanny pack, but when a years-old racist tirade comes to surface (even if it was during an emotional, private conversation), that’s a blow hard to recover from … We hope The Hulk has been sincere in his apologies since, but this was one of the worst moments of the year, even if it did actually happen in 2006.

Jason Pierre-Paul blows up his hand

The once-dominant defensive end lost several fingers lighting fireworks. What’s worse? He wasn’t the only athlete to mutilate himself blowing stuff up this past 4th of July. Pierre-Paul is a two-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion and is lucky to have a hand at all, but his career — and bank account — will never be the same.

Colts’ fake punt vs. Patriots

Is this the worst football play of all-time? Many think so. Many laughed. Many cried.

Colts punter Pat McAfee explained what happened here.

MMA fighter taps out, poops himself.

You can read the whole story here, but there’s not much to it. This guy literally got the crap beat out of him.
