On paper, a team up between the creator of The Shield and the creator of Supernatural doesn’t sound like a natural fit. But Shawn Ryan (pictured above) and Eric Kripke have not only joined forces, their new project, Time sparked a bidding war between the networks!
According to Deadline, NBC came out on top of the bidding for Time, giving it a pilot order. Time is an action adventure time travel drama that is described as Back to the Future meets Mission: Impossible, which implies that the series will have comedic elements as well. The series follows “an unlikely trio who travel through time to battle a master criminal intent on altering the fabric of human history with potentially catastrophic results.”
Sony Pictures TV is producing Time, and both Kripke and Ryan are co-writing the script. Although Kripke (Supernatural) and Ryan (The Shield) are best known for their signature long running series, they also have a few failed shows between them in the past few years. Ryan’s Terriers and Last Resort only had single season between them, while Kripke’s Revolution had two underwhelming seasons on NBC.
With the pilot order in place for Time, casting and production are expected to begin soon. If Time goes to series, it will likely compete for a slot on NBC’s Fall 2016 schedule.
