Meet Your New Favorite Woman on the Internet | Josephine Skriver

Josephine Skriver has ascended up the ranks in the modeling world with a remarkable swiftness, with the 22-year-old having appeared in over 300 fashion shows since her career began in 2011, representing a number of high-profile designers from Gucci through to Dolce & Gabbana.

Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, Josephine is now best known for her appearances in Victoria’s Secret catalogs, with her being named as one of the lingerie company’s official runway Angels back in 2013.

Josephine and her brother Oliver were both conceived through IVF, with the model having previously spoken out about the prejudices she’s faced as a result of this. In an interview with i-D, she said: “When people look at me and know that I’m an IVF kid, I hope they see a person, a human being, just like anyone else. You get so many, ‘She’s not made the natural way, she shouldn’t even be here,’ but I am not a science experiment, I am not synthetic, I am just as real as you are.”

Josephine has also been an outspoken advocate for LGBT rights, with her having been raised by two gay parents. In an essay for The Huffington Post, she wrote: “Every person, no matter their religion, background, skin color, opinion or sexual orientation, is part of our reality and deserves not only to receive love, but also to give love.

She continued: “I believe the ultimate gift of love is what brings life into this world and helps such lives grow. Helping them to understand, helping them to smile. Did my mother and father not deserve that joy because they are both gay themselves? Were they not allowed to feel the warmth of parenting? Were they not allowed the most basic of human rights — to create love?”

Along with seemingly being an all-round pretty awesome person, Josephine’s also managed to leave her mark on social media, amassing a staggering 1.7 million followers on Instagram. Check her out on the app right here.
