Don’t Buy the New Rollercoaster Tycoon World

Rollercoaster Tycoon World has been released on Steam and it is a mess. The game, which has been released in Early Access, is plagued with bugs, glitches and performance issues, with it attracting a wide array of negative reviews on its Steam Store page.

The game was initially intended to release in full in December 2015, but a heavy delay has now seen an incomplete version of it launch three months later than planned, bringing with it a heap of problems that have rubbed fans of the series the wrong way.

One of the major points of contention was that despite the game not exactly being much of a looker, it still suffers from a sub-par frame rate. There have also been a number of problems with the animations of the park guests, with one bug seeing them being stuck in an infinite loop of walking on the spot. While problems are expected to be present in an Early Access game, the fact that Rollercoaster Tycoon World was scheduled for a full release last year, not to mention that the quality of the game outside of its performance problems is underwhelming, means that at the time of this writing it is advisable that you keep your money in your wallet.

Developer Nvizzio addressed a number of the game’s problems on its Steam page, writing:

“Please note it probably will take us some time and few updates before we can address all the glitches, due to the complexity of the issues and their relation to our peep ‘bones’… be reassured that we are actively working on it and we will update you with fixes as quickly as possible.”

But even though the developers states that they are working on rectifying the game’s problems, right now it’s certainly not worth its loft $49.99 price tag, even for those who were die-hard fans of the old entries in the series.
