Cheez TV Live Is Coming To Sydney As Everyone Questions Whether It’s Actually 1996 Again

That’s right children of the 90s, our childhoods are here again as “Cheez TV” is back, in the form of a live show at Sydney’s Factory Theatre on Friday 29th July as everyone collectively ask themselves what year it is?

Of course, original hosts Jade Gatt and Ryan Lappin are along for the ride down memory lane, because what would the show be without the two pimply faces that used to greet us every morning and placate the cruel truth we had to face school shortly by treating us to best cartoons TV had to offer?

No doubt the cause of countless late arrivals to school and fakes sickies (what was I going to do, not watch the Goku release the power move he’d been charging up for a week?) and running from 1995- 2004 from 7am – 8:30 on Channel 10, “Cheez TV” was a daily institution for kids around the country.

The odd couple hosts, cool guy Jade and nerdy Ryan, along with more of a focus on cartoons eventually saw the show take the morning children’s television crown away from Channel 7’s “Agro’s Cartoon Connection.”

Playing such iconic shows as  X-MenTransformers, Pokémon, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball ZStreet SharksBiker Mice from Mars, Earthworm Jim and more to Australian audiences for the first time, looking back, it’s no wonder the show was so successful. It seems cruel to have played such great shows so early in the morning now I think about it.

Having re-ignited the flames of “Cheez TV” fandom back in 2010 after a fan led attempt to get the show back on air fizzled out, Gatt and Lappin started the official Chez TV Facebook featuring old episodes of the show as well as new programming by the duo earlier this year.  The upcoming live show featuring big screen gaming and a ’90s nostalgia DJ set from Rocket Science DJs aka Team Rocket with full event details below.

In the meantime, induce some serious nostalgia by revisiting the pumping 90s soundtracked intro and a random segment.
