It’s the end of the world as Scooby Doo knows it, and he most certainly does not feel fine!
Last month, DC launched Scooby Apocalypse, a new ongoing series conceived by DC co-publisher and industry legend Jim Lee. As the title implies, this is a radically different take on the Scooby Doo franchise by writers J.M. DeMatteis and Keith Giffen, and artist Howard Porter.
In the first issue, Shaggy was reintroduced as a dog handler for a secret research lab that gave Scooby the ability to speak, although he’s still considered to be relatively unintelligent for a canine. Velma Dinkley was one of Shaggy’s bosses, and a whistle blower who invited TV hostess and fallen reporter, Daphne Blake and her sidekick, Fred Jones to expose the truth and prevent an apocalypse. Unfortunately, the event was triggered while they were trapped in the underground compound.
Within CraveOnline’s exclusive preview for Scooby Apocalypse # 2, the newly assembled team discovers a hint about how widespread the event has spread. And let’s just say that monsters are real now…
DC has released its solicitation text for Scooby Apocalypse # 2:
“The apocalypse continues as Scooby and the gang explore a mysterious facility that may hold the key to their survival. Little do they know that a particularly powerful puppy and his gang of mutated mutts are waiting in the shadows—and they’re ready to attack!”
Scooby Apocalypse # 2 will hit comic stores on Wednesday, June 15.
