While I’m sure the Red Hot Chilli Pipers are a doozy of a band, the couple in this story spent cash and flew to Ireland from the UK thinking they had bought tickets to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers. They were completely wrong.
Duncan Robb and his girlfriend were pumped to see the Anthony Kiedis-led rock band, but instead had to settle for a bagpipe-based celt rock ensemble instead, a band that was formed in Scotland way back in 2002. And believe it or not, the Pipers are a big deal in Scotland, having released five albums and even showing up on the soundtrack of How To Train Your Dragon 2. But Robb and his gal wanted to hear “Scar Tissue,” “Give It Away,” and more.
Check out the tweet below shared by Robb:
Still can’t believe we’ve flown over to Belfast not for the @ChiliPeppers but to see the ‘worlds best bagpipe band’ @chillipipers … thought I’d got a rate good deal on tickets n’all. Had a nightmare pic.twitter.com/YO72amVR4I

Here’s what Robb told had to say about his snafu:
“Fast-forward a month and we get the actual tickets through the post—brilliant! Up they went on the board—still nobody had noticed my mistake. It was only until the Wednesday before when my gf wanted to know who was supporting them. She couldn’t find anything about the Red Hot Chili Peppers performing in Belfast.
[We] just had to laugh about it—what else was there to do! The only saving grace was that we had found out three days before and not while we were in the arena!”
Robb and his girlfriend still went to the show, and they had a good time, so not all was lost.
For anybody interested in what the Red Hot Chilli Pipers sound like (and for the angry “didnt happen” mob ) here’s a video from our seats x pic.twitter.com/gIoymZ3xGW

And believe it or not, Robb and his girlfriend aren’t the first people to make this mistake:
Nathan and I have been excited for weeks because I got him the best Christmas present to see the Red Hot @ChiliPeppers live tonight… discovered 10mins ago that I had bought tickets to see the Red Hot Chilli PIPERS!!!!! Guess we will see you tonight @chillipipers #newfans pic.twitter.com/2NKtNL0XJT

So it sounds like one band will have to change their name, and it’s going to have to be the Chili Peppers, obviously.
