‘So… shall we begin?’
The first teaser for J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness went live at midnight tonight, courtesy of Apple Trailers, and one thing’s for sure… it’s dark. And epic. Crashing ships, huge fight scenes and lots of images of the crew of the Starship Enterprise looking very, very worried about whatever the hell is happening in this movie. We say “whatever the hell” because we still don’t know a damned thing, other than Benedict Cumberbatch plays a bad guy with lots of “bad guy” dialogue who carries a big gun and sweeps out his opponents legs with the thing. We do love the last shot though, of Benedict Cumberbatch in the Captain’s chair, but we don’t love the fact that we still have no idea who he’s playing, or what the heck is going on.
Well, maybe we’ll find out more when the first full trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness premieres on December 17. Then again it’s still J.J. Abrams we’re talking about here, so maybe not. He does so love his little mysteries, but is it possible to push audiences too far?
Star Trek Into Darkness, starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Alice Eve, Bruce Greenwood, Peter Weller and Benedict Cumberbatch hits theaters in 2D, 3D and IMAX on May 17, 2013.
