Back to Eric Stoltz in Back to the Future

Some fans of the film Back to the Future may know that Eric Stoltz had shot for four weeks as Marty McFly before director Robert Zemeckis fired him and replaced him with Michael J. Fox.

Producer Bob Gale says the subsequent firing of Melora Hardin, who was originally cast as Marty’s love interest, but was thought to be too tall for Fox, was the hardest thing he ever had to do.

Now there is a fictional redemption of that string of decisions for Gale, according to Crave’s /Film website, in the form of a comic book alternate reality. David Guy Levy is authoring the comic Back to Back to the Future. In it, Gale goes back to the past with Hardin and they decide to make sure Stoltz is never fired.

You can get the first issue free right now when you click here. The first three will all be free, but the last three issues will set you back $2 apiece. (Or will they? Perhaps the alternate timeline will make the books a reality and you won’t have to pay!)
