Has Microsoft finally realized the immediacy a gaming junkie has when playing a new title? Or are they just pushing the envelope in hopes that the final product won’t combust in a fiery rage?
Speaking to Digital Foundry, Microsoft described that the current design of the Xbox One incorporates a new stand-by system which makes it much more efficient, letting gamers spend less time loading and more time playing. Microsoft refers to it as an always-on system that lets you pick up and go. To make it even more of a drastic change from the Xbox 360, the designers have sought to fix the common problem of incessant noise. However, the final product hasn’t completed testing nor been finalized, so Microsoft is merely pushing to get things out in perfect working order by the deadline. If not, consumers may have to pay with an issue similar to that of the RROD plague that afflicted so many Xbox 360 systems.
All paranoia aside, if Microsoft can cure and/or fix any plausible speed bumps in design, then the Xbox One can deliver on its promise of a hassle-free entertainment center. We all know how it feels to leave a character standing alone in a desolate valley, after a few hours we feel bad for abandoning them and want to return to the fight as quickly as possible.
