The Toronto International Film Festival has named its Rising Stars, and they include Megan Park (“The F Word”), Johnathan Sousa (“The Animal Project,” “What We Have”), Evelyne Brochu (“Polytechnique,” “Café de Flore”), and Cara Gee (“Empire of Dirt,” “King”).
The four-day initiative immerses four selected actors in a series of public events and private industry meetings throughout the Festival. The actors receive expert guidance in professional development from international casting directors, filmmakers, producers and development executives. The Stars also get be front row centre at some of the biggest red-carpet events at the Festival.
Meanwhile, Canadian actors like Jake Gyllenhaal and Cory Monteith will also appear in a number of TIFF movies. Monteith, who passed away in July of this year in Vancouver and who was one of the stars of the hit show “Glee,” will be seen in “All The Wrong Reasons,” while Gyllenhaal is part of the cast of “Enemy,” directed by Denis Villeneuve.
