‘Breaking Bad’ & ‘House’ Creators Team Up For New CBS Drama

This Sunday, Vince Gilligan’s five season run on “Breaking Bad” will come to an end. But CBS is making sure that Gilligan won’t be off television for long.

According to DeadlineCBS has given a series order to “Battle Creek,” a new detective drama originally created by Gilligan back in 2002. Gilligan is executive producing “Battle Creek” alongside Mark Johnson and “House” creator David Shore, who will also serve as the showrunner. Gilligan is reportedly interested in directing for the series as well.

“Battle Creek” centers on a pair of detectives who clash over whether “cynicism, guile and deception” or “naïveté, trust and a boatload of resources” are necessary to “clean up the semi-mean streets of Battle Creek, Michigan.”

Sony TV is producing “Battle Creek” alongside CBS TV Studios, with 13 episodes reportedly set for the first season. Given the early pick up to series, “Battle Creek” will likely premiere on CBS in  Fall 2014.

Gilligan is also close to signing a deal for “Better Call Saul,” a “Breaking Bad” prequel series starring Bob Odenkirk at AMC.
