Stratford Fest Legacy Honour To Go To William Shatner

William Shatner, otherwise known as “Star Trek’s” Captain Kirk, will receive the Legacy Award at the Stratford Festival next week. Inaugurated in 2011, Christopher Plummer and dame Maggie Smith received the first two awards.

William Shatner was a member of the Stratford Festival company for three seasons from 1954 to 1956. In 1966, Shatner originated the role of Captain James T. Kirk in the television series “Star Trek,” which led to a film franchise where he returned as Captain Kirk in seven Star Trek movies. His other television series include “T.J. Hooker,” “The Practice” and “Boston Legal,” for which he won Emmys and his first Golden Globe Award for his portrayal of eccentric lawyer Denny Crane. Shatner has also recorded several albums and written 30 novels and non-fiction books including his autobiography, “Up Till Now,” which was a New York Times bestseller.

Shatner will be honoured at a gala event Monday, October 21st in Toronto.
