EnRoute magazine, Air Canada’s in-flight publication, has released its annual list of the best new restaurants, and in addition to new establishments like Toronto’s Isabel topping the list, food trucks also got top marks.
In fact, the food truck Vij’s Railway Express won for People’s Choice, which many are saying are reflective of the new wave of dining trends in the country. It was opened in 2012 by cookbook author Vikram Vij and his wife Meeru Dhalwala, and has since expanded into catering private events. “Everyone at Vij’s Railway Express is thrilled beyond words – we can’t thank people enough for voting for us,” Vij told Global News.
While Isabel took the overall top spot, the runners-up included Shoto in second (Toronto), Fogo Island Inn in third (Newfoundland), Supply and Demand in fourth (Ottawa), and Pidgin in fifth (Vancouver).
