When you think about it, it makes sense. A restaurant is the perfect place to hang out and relax with your goomah after a long day of coercion, racketeering and all-around ass-kicking. It’s also the perfect front to launder money through. It’s the perfect place to whack scumbags like Sollozzo and McCluskey. And at the end of the day, every guy’s gotta eat, right?
And real world mobsters are just as partial to conducting business over a hot plate of veal marsala.
Over at Thrillist, the guys put together a list of 8 eateries across the U.S. with storied pasts linked to gangsters, crooks and generally bad dudes of many kinds. And while half the restaurants are located in mob locales you’d expect like New York and Chicago, the other four run the gamut.
I mean, who woulda thought Kansas City would be host to a great old mob haunt?
