NBA All-Star Weekend: All-Time Biggest Surprises

Unfortunately, James makes our list not because of what he did, but because of what he didn’t do — well, actually it’s a little bit of both. Let me explain…

The great news is that James made the 1988 All-Star team for the Western Conference. The bad news is that James made the 1988 All-Star team for the Western Conference….Donaldson was a better than average center in the NBA, holding a career that spanned more than a decade. However, the only reason he made the team in ’88 was because he was an injury replacement. His stats that season were meek, to say the least:
Stats: 7.1 PPG, 9.8 RPG, 1.1 BPG

…most certainly not All-Star worthy.

Good ol’ James is considered to be the worst All-Star selected in the NBA’s history — so I guess in a way, that’s considered a blessing and a curse?

He only averaged 8.6 ppg over his career and finished with 2 points, 2 blocks and 2 rebounds in the 1988 All-Star Game.
