Bryan Singer To Direct ‘Breaking Bad’ Creator’s New CBS Pilot

In 2004, Bryan Singer and David Shore produced “House” for Fox; which ran for eight seasons as one of the network’s top dramas. Next fall, Singer and Shore will reunite on CBS alongside “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan.

Singer has joined Gilligan’s new CBS drama, “Battle Creek” as an executive producer and he will direct the pilot episode. “Battle Creek” was originally created by Gilligan before he went on to do “Breaking Bad.” Last year, CBS resurrected “Battle Creek” with Shore as the showrunner.

“Battle Creek” stars Dean Winters as Russ Agnew, a detective in the small town of Battle Creek, MI who teams up with FBI agent Milton Bradley to “clean up the semi-mean streets.” Kal Penn was recently cast as one of the other local detectives on the series.

Singer’s last TV pilot was “Mockingbird Lane,” the “Munsters” reboot at NBC that wasn’t ordered to series. In features, Singer is best known for directing The Unusual Suspects, Apt Pupil, Valkyrie, Superman Returns, X-Men, X2 and the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past.

CBS has ordered “Battle Creek” straight-to-series, so it is expected to debut this fall.
