HULK SMASH… INTO THEATERS SOMETIME AFTER 2015!
So says Lou Ferrigno, the actor who played the Marvel superhero in the popular 1970s TV series and who remains the voice of the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, when he’s not being played by Edward Norton or (more recently Mark Ruffalo).
Latino Review is reporting that Lou Ferrigno recently told a Minnesota radio station that the jade giant would return to the big screen in his first solo movie since 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, citing the newfound popularity of the character after Joss Whedon’s Avengers. Quoth the Ferrigno:
“Now because he saved the day they’re making another solo Hulk movie after the second Avengers comes out.”
Rumors about a new solo Hulk movie starring Mark Ruffalo swirled after the release of The Avengers in 2012, but Marvel was always quick to ignore them completely. Among the many rumors about Marvel’s upcoming “Phase Three” – the series of solo films that will follow 2015’s release of The Avengers: Age of Ultron – was that not only would the Hulk get his own movie once again, but that it would follow the storyline of Planet Hulk, which found Bruce Banner and his mighty alter ego stranded on a distant planet full of hostile alien lifeforms and eventually conquering it for himself.
As a member of the Marvel family, Lou Ferrigno might very well know what he’s talking about, but until we hear an official announcement from Marvel Studios proper, CraveOnline would like to remind you that it would be best to take this story as a rumor… for now.
