Minnesota Vikings Chad Greenway Saves Boaters on Dangerous Lake

Props to Minnesota Vikings’ star Chad Greenway — the Pro Bowl linebacker not only leapt into action to keep a pair of boaters from smashing into the rocks on a windy day on Minnesota’s Lake Minnetonka Monday, he didn’t even seem to mind that the two were Bears fans.

As reported by Minneapolis’ KARE 11 TV (as well as Crave sports site NESN), high water coupled with high winds had the new boat piloted by Edward and Crystal Alexis spinning out of control and venturing dangerously close to a rock formation by a lake spillway.

That’s when Greenway, who has a home on the lake, jumped into the lake to help the boaters keep the craft out of the rocks until sheriff’s deputies could arrive and pull the boat to safety.

While extremely grateful for Greenway’s quick assist, Edward Alexis told KARE 11, “I’m a Chicago Bears fan…just keepin’ it real.”

A good-natured Greenway didn’t seem to mind aiding the enemy, even transporting the rescued couple back around the lake to pick up their boat following the ordeal.
