We’ve known for a while that the next film in the Resident Evil franchise — it’s sixth — was also likely to be its last.
And if writer, director and all-around series visionary Paul W.S. Anderson has anything to say about it, the title of the last RE movie is gonna pound the nail into that particular coffin.
As Anderson told Collider (in a tidbit re-reported by Crave film site Coming Soon), the new film is tentatively titled Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. Ominous…
“Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is the working title. It may end up being the final title, but that’s what’s written on the front page of my script… I’m right in the middle of [the first draft].”
As for when the concluding chapter of Milla Jovovich’s zombie-killing antics will hit the big screen:
“There are no set dates for shooting yet. I think we’re waiting until we have a first draft screenplay and then go from there.”
The last Resident Evil film Resident Evil: Retribution bowed in September 2012.
