Australia is about to get a whole lot funnier with the addition a whole bunch of acts to Sydney’s upcoming Just For Laughs comedy festival, starting with the announcement that UK comedy superstar Eddie Izzard will play host at the Sydney gala on Saturday, 18th October.
The star of stage and screen will be coming to Australia exclusively for Just For Laughs Sydney and will host the gala featuring a line up of top international and Australian comedians, including already announced comic legends Bill Bailey, Jim Gaffigan, Rhys Darby and Trevor Noah.
Joining the illustrious lineup today is internationally renowned vocal artist/beatboxer/musician/comedian Reggie Watts. Known for blurring the line between music, comedy and utter surrealism, Reggie Watts wields his distinctive voice, looping pedals, and his vast imagination in a way that disorientates his audiences and makes sure no two performances are ever the same. On top of his Sydney festival performance, Reggie Watts will also play solo shows in Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane.
Australian comedian Hannah Gadsby will also perform at Just For Laughs Sydney. Renown for turn heartbreaking true stories into soaring and hilarious monologues, her show The Exhibitionist was nominated for Best Show at the 2013 Melbourne Comedy Festival.
Canadian stand-up comedian and actress Caroline Rhea, known for her roles in “Sabrina The Teenage Witch”, “The Caroline Rhea Show” and Whoopi Goldberg’s “Hollywood Squares”, will also play the festival, making her Sydney debut.
Just For Laughs Sydney returns with its 4th edition and will feature some of the worlds’ biggest and funniest international and Australian comedians. Starting Tuesday, October 14 the annual six-day event will return to the prestigious Sydney Opera House. See the Sydney Opera House website for the full program and ticketing details.
