At the end of “Homeland” Season 3, Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) was on the verge of rebuilding her life in the shadow of Nicholas Brody’s (Damian Lewis). Carrie’s father offered to adopt her unborn child and Carrie was given the chance to reenter the frontline of the war on terror.
But when season four of “Homeland” premieres next month, Carrie may come to regret her choices. The latest trailer released by Showtime depicts a drone strike gone wrong, thanks to some faulty intelligence supplied by Sandy Bachman (Corey Stoll) the chief of station for the CIA in Pakistan.
Once again, Carrie is thrust into the darker side of counterintelligence as the CIA director, Andrew Lockhart (Tracy Letts) tries to cover his own ass while Carrie reluctantly turns to her former mentor, Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) for help.

The new trailer also introduces Suraj Sharma as Aayan Ibrahim, a Pakistani medical student whom Carrie attempts to recruit as an asset for the CIA. We also see Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) and Carrie run into… shall we say… a little traffic problem in Pakistan while surrounded by an angry mob.
“Homeland” Season 4 will premiere with back-to-back episodes on Sunday, October 5 on Showtime.
