Shortly before the fifth season of “The Walking Dead” began, AMC ordered a sixth season of the blockbuster zombie series. Now, one of the newest characters on the show has been cast.
According to Deadline, Alexandra Breckenridge has signed on to “The Walking Dead” Season 5 on a recurring basis, with the option to become a series regular in the sixth season next year. Breckenridge’s character was called Samantha in the call sheets, but that may be a fake name. The character was described as “an attractive, strong, smart, charming and articulate woman who also has a vulnerable side. She’s a mother with a bohemian spirit, and a talented artist.”
Breckenridge is best known for her role as “Young Moira” on the first season of “American Horror Story” before returning for “American Horror Story: Coven” as Kaylee. Breckenridge also has a long history of genre TV appearances, including guest stints on “Charmed,” “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” and “True Blood.”

“The Walking Dead” Season 5 will continue this Sunday on AMC. Breckenridge’s first appearance on the series will be this season, but the specific debut episode of her character wasn’t included in the announcement.
