Lynyrd Skynyrd Headlining 2015 Eastbound Hoedown

Legendary rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd has been announced as one of the headliners of the Eastbound Hoedown in August – the legendary rockers will play the Newfoundland event after more than 50 years in the biz.

Releasing Last of a Dyin’ Breed, their newest album on Roadrunner/Loud & Proud Records, it’s a follow-up to their 2009 project God & Guns. According to the Eastbound Hoedown website: “From the raging guitars of the title track and the pounding, funky homage to local talent in ‘Home Grown’ to the mind-blowing ‘Honey Hole,’ Lynyrd Skynyrd sound like young bucks having one hell of a good time, which, regarding the latter, founding member Gary Rossington says is very much the case. ‘For me this is one of the happiest and most fun albums I’ve ever done,’ says Rossington. ‘We didn’t have a lot of problems goin’ on; it was just fun goin’ to work every day.’

God & Guns debuted at #18 on the Billboard Top 200, giving the band their highest debut since 1977. Lynyrd Skynyrd have a catalog of over 60 albums, sales beyond 30 million worldwide, and their beloved classic American rock anthem “Sweet Home Alabama” has sold over two million ringtones. They’re also Rock & Roll Hall of Famers.

Joining Lynyrd Skynyrd at the Eastbound Hoedown is Dallas Smith, Rex Goudie, Rodney Atkins, David Nail, and Lonestar. The event runs August 21-22. Tickets go on sale on March 27th at noon – go to the Eastbound Hoedown website for more info.
