Jordan Henderson Set to Sign New Five-Year, £100,000 Per Week Contract with Liverpool

Jordan Henderson is on the verge of signing a new five-year contract with Liverpool, extending his stay at Anfield until beyond 2020.

According to a report from Sky Sports, the 24-year-old is set to remain at the club and is being pegged as the player who will take the captain’s armband from Steven Gerrard after the Reds legend moves away to the MLS.

Henderson, who signed to Liverpool from Sunderland for £20 million back in 2011, has proven to be a key first team player for his club and has taken over the captaincy from Gerrard during his absences this season.

Henderson is tipped to take over the captain’s armband from Steven Gerrard.

As speculation continues to surround the future of Henderson’s fellow Liverpool and England teammate Raheem Sterling, who is being touted to move away from Liverpool and join Arsenal in a potential swap with Theo Walcott, it seems that Liverpool will keep a hold of the central midfielder with a rumoured £100,000 per week deal.

Henderson’s contract expires next year, but according to Sky his new contract is all but confirmed.
