Against all odds, logic and reason, Wet Hot American Summer is getting a revival on Netflix this summer.
The original Wet Hot American Summer movie was released to little fanfare in 2001, but it has since become a cult comedy classic in part thanks to the cast which included several future comedy all-stars.
Amazingly, almost the entire cast is back for Netflix’s Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp; which is actually a prequel to the movie despite the 14 year gap between the film and the series.
In Netflix’s latest promo for the series, H. Jon Benjamin (the voice of Archer on FX) narrates a VHS commercial for Camp Firewood that is hilariously shitty. Along the way, you can catch a glimpse of some of the returning cast members, including Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, Ken Marino, Joe Lo Truglio, Michael Ian Black, Molly Shannon, Elizabeth Banks, Christopher Meloni, David Hyde Pierce, and Janeane Garofalo.
Wet Hot American Summer’s David Wain and Michael Showalter spearheaded the First Day of Camp series and they are the driving force behind the eight episode revival. Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp will premiere every episode in the miniseries on Netflix beginning on July 31.
