Fox’s six episode revival of The X-Files is currently in production, and it’s already back on the cover of Entertainment Weekly.
While speaking to EW in the current issue, The X-Files creator, Chris Carter shot down a popular rumor that the second episode, “Home Again” would be a sequel to the classic episode, “Home,” in which Mulder and Scully encountered a monstrous in-bred family.
“We’re not going to reboot any of the old favorites, although it was something we all thought about,” said Carter. “These are all brand new stories. We hope to scare you in brand new ways.”
Carter has been joined on the X-Files revival by original series writers James Wong, Glen Morgan, and Darin Morgan. The EW story also reveals that Darin Morgan’s episode is called “Mulder and Scully Meet The Were-Man;” which suggests another comedy episode along the lines of his fan-favorite scripts for “Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose” and “Jose Chung’s ‘From Outer Space.’”

As for Mulder and Scully themselves, they were last seen in The X-Files: I Want To Believe as lovers who were happily together. David Duchovny teased that the former partners turned lovers may not be as close when the series returns.
“Mulder’s not in a great place,” related Duchovny. “He’s wearing bad jeans, so you can just extrapolate from my wardrobe [EW said that he was ‘looking shabby in gray tee, shoes without shoelaces, and much stubble’] He’s in a dark, dark place.”
“I like where we find Mulder and Scully in their relationship,” added Anderson. “I also like the area of zeitgeist that we step in to. It’s on point and raises some very interesting issues. And question marks.”
The X-Files miniseries will return to Fox in early 2016.
