Stephen Amell is not only the star of The CW’s Arrow, he’s also an avid WWE fan who has made no secret of his desire to appear on WWE’s Monday Night RAW. Next Monday, he will get his wish.
WWE has announced that Amell will confront his onscreen nemesis, Stardust (Cody Rhodes) on the next episode of RAW, which will be broadcast on Monday, August 10th. The feud began when Stardust singled Amell out of the crowd during the May 26th episode of RAW. Since then, Stardust has cut several promos that appeared to refer to Amell.
The early rumor was that Amell and Stardust will have a match at SummerSlam, which is one of WWE’s biggest annual events. WWE has a long tradition of putting celebrities in wrestling matches, including the main event of the very first Wrestlemania in which Mr. T and Hulk Hogan took on the late “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff.

A proposed match between Amell and Stardust could be expanded into a tag match to include two other wrestlers, in part to cover for Amell’s lack of wrestling training. Although all professional wrestling matches are scripted, it still takes skill to pull off the in-ring performance without the wrestlers seriously injuring each other. If the match takes place, it would have to be booked to protect Amell, since he is currently filming the fourth season of Arrow and any injury he suffers would jeopardize the production schedule.
This year’s SummerSlam will take place on Sunday, August 23 on pay-per-view and the WWE Network. The extent of Amell’s involvement should be clear after the next episode of RAW.
