Beyoncé’s Name Change on Forbes’ List Explained

Forbes recently released its 2024’s Most Powerful Women list and fans were quick to notice that Beyonce had a slight name change when it came to her last name. In the list, the “Carter” in her full name, Beyonce Knowles Carter, was dropped. Fans are accordingly wondering whether Beyonce changed her last name on Forbes’ 2024 Most Powerful Women list.

Here is everything you need to know about the removal of the “Halo” singer’s last name.

Beyoncé’s last name Carter excluded from Forbes 2024 Most Powerful Women list

It is uncertain if Beyonce had her last name changed on Forbes’ 2024 Most Powerful Women List. This is because she has not commented on the situation as of writing.

Beyonce was ranked at 35th place in Forbes‘ recent Most Powerful Women list. Several fans reacted to and shared their thoughts on her just being referred to as Beyonce Knowles instead of her full name, Beyonce Knowles-Carter.

“Beyoncé dropped “Carter” from her last name? Ooouuuuuuuuuuuuuhhh!!,” one fan wrote on X ( formerly Twitter). Meanwhile, another fan called the name change a “soft launch.” However, some fans pointed out that Forbes has traditionally used only Beyonce’s maiden name in their articles. Despite this, a Forbes story from September 4, 2024, which covered the global launch of the music icon’s Whiskey brand SirDavis, used her full name.

Beyonce has reportedly embraced the name Mrs. Carter and has used it while on tour. Speculation about her name change in the Forbes article arises at a time when her husband Jay-Z, AKA Shawn Carter, is facing a lawsuit alleging his and Sean “Diddy” Combs‘ assault of a 13-year-old girl back in 2000.

Jay-Z denied the allegations in a statement, calling them “heinous” and pleaded with the complainant, later identified as Jane Doe, to file a “criminal complaint” instead of a “civil one.” He was named Celebrity A in the initial lawsuit. Here, Jay-Z also bashed her attorney Tony Buzbee for his mediation request, which he called a “blackmail attempt.”

Meanwhile, Jay-Z and Beyonce recently graced the premiere of Mufasa: The Lion King with their daughter, Blue Ivy.
